Bat walks are a feature of various National Trust properties. Near us in Surrey there are a number of National Trust properties. Hatchlands is one of these, a large Parkland consisting of a little over 480 acres. Within the grounds of hatchlands comma there are wooded areas comma pasture a grand house and a small lake full stop
One particular evening recently I went on one of these walks which was led by the head gardener of said property.
It was good to be part of a walk where I wasn’t leading full stop sometimes being the leader you don’t get to enjoy just having some time to yourself! When on these kind of walks it is tempting to offer knowledge. On this occasion I resisted the temptation as I wanted to know more about bats or in particular see them and hear them.
