I was asked by some medical person to get under this big device which was like a single narrow arched wall i.e. half an arch. I sat on an old flat wicker chair and sidled on it slowly like a crab sideways in line with the machine. I looked at the device and there was a long pause nothing happened. My wife was encouraging me in the background. I saw a couple of buttons on the device in front of me. I think one said press here and wait. I did that the second time (i.e. after just sitting there) but still no flash or anything dramatic. Apparently, it had done what it needed to. It was some kind of scanner and it was scanning me. Particularly my top half, especially my head. Then I came out from under the device and off to the side. The clinic was bright white and clean as was the device. I don’t think there was anything showing up during or after the scan. There was a sense of peace about the whole thing.
After the scan in the dream I discover that nothing had been found on the scan. There was nothing wrong with me. I woke up from something very lovely yet I can’t remember specifically what it was. There was a lot of light and joy and peace. The background to the dream is of being made whole or pure or clean. This is only possible through Jesus cleansing the heavenly temple when he died a cruel death on the cross, he was buried, raised to life and ascended to reign as king of the world. Our bodies are his temple. Being in him has made us new creations!
The medical person was quite likely Jesus. He does refer to himself as The Physician. The term Great Physician has been handed down through history. I did not see him but I knew in the dream I had been asked by a medical person to step over to the scanner.
This scanner is a device not of my own making it is in a medical facility. That is a symbol of the kingdom of God. A scanner is used to make a copy or a record of something. A new record or copy has been made that of Jesus Christ.
‘…who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation...’
(Colossians 1:15, LEB)
There’s also a sense of being made ready, ready for the purposes of the kingdom of God.
As I continued to consider the dream and what it contained, the phrase came very clearly to me. It was a revelation from the Holy Spirit.
I heard these words:
It’s about transformation. The scanner is all about transformation!
Transformation is one of the big themes of the bible especially in the new testament. The same week of considering these things I listened to Frank Viola on the Christ is all podcast, a week or so later from this dream, talking about his latest book – THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH: REVISED & EXPANDED – On there he speaks about transformation coming through engaging with the word of God, both written, spoken and living. That’s what transforms us – as well as suffering.
There’s also something about copy which rings in my mind. A copy of the former things….
The Bible also says through the prophet Isaiah to the people of Israel:
“You must not remember the former things,
and you not must consider the former things.
Look! I am about to do a new thing! Now it sprouts!
Do you not perceive[a] it?
Indeed, I will make[b] a way in the wilderness,
rivers in the desert.
The animals of the field will honor me,
jackals and daughters of the ostrich,
for I give water in the wilderness,
rivers in the desert,
to give a drink to my chosen people,
this people whom I formed for myself,
so they might make known[c] my praise.
Who serve a sketch and shadow of the heavenly just as Moses was warned when he was about to complete the tabernacle, for he says, “See to it that you make everything according to the .” Pattern which was shown to you on the mountain.
There is neither remembrance former generations, nor will there be remembrance of future generations.
For look! I am about to create new heavens and new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, and they shall not come to mind.
Looks the former things have come, and I declare new time announce them to you before they sprout up.
Declared the former things from of old, and they went out from my mouth. And I announced them suddenly, I acted, and they came to pass,
Remember from long time ago, for I am God and there is none besides me, God and there is none like me,I then put in the word transformation into the Logos app search and a whole lot of verses come up.
As I was reading in Romans 12.1-2 text I saw the connection between it and the dream:
Therefore I exhort you, brothers, through the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, so that you may approve what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.
That passage stirred me to think of the scanner. It was particularly scanning my head. I entered the scanner on an old chair and I waited. Nothing seemed to happen at first. Then I activated the machine and waited nothing seemed to happen again but the words of the dream I wrote said:
Apparently, it had done what it needed to!!
There was a sense of peace about it all. Peace is about being made whole particularly through Christ. We have all we need in him. Why do we try and be made whole through lots of other things? There was also purity and cleansing which came from being in his kingdom.
He sees us as pure and holy. As we look to him and wait on him we are transformed. We are made clean in a pure and holy environment that of his presence. We are encouraged on by the Holy Spirit to walk following Jesus. He gives us peace even when we come to him on our old human made wicker chairs. We find rest in him.
We are new creations in him.
He sees us through his eyes. The scanner is ‘seeing’ me. I somehow think the scanner represents his words and what he says over us.
Thinking further on these things I was reminded of Graham Cooke’s definition of grace.
Grace is My empowering presence within you that enables you to become the person that I see when I look at you.
Based on the search results, Graham Cooke’s understanding of grace goes beyond a simple definition of “undeserved favor.” Here’s a summary of his key perspectives:
Empowering Presence:
- Cooke emphasizes that grace is the “empowering presence of God.” It’s not just a passive gift, but an active force that enables individuals to become who God intends them to be.
- He highlights that grace empowers believers to embody God’s perception of them.
- It plays a crucial role in discovering and living out one’s true identity in Christ.
Transformation and Identity:
- Grace facilitates transformation by allowing people to see themselves as God sees them.
Relationship with God:
- Cooke connects grace to God’s desire for relationship, stating that it’s a primary means of creating that connection.
- He also expresses that Grace is tied to Gods own nature.
Beyond Undeserved Favor:
- He moves beyond the traditional definition of “undeserved favor,” suggesting that grace is a much richer and more dynamic aspect of God’s nature.
In essence, Graham Cooke’s view of grace centers on its transformative power, enabling believers to align with God’s perspective and live out their divine potential.
A scanner searches you revealing hidden things exposing you to the light. As you are submitting yourself to the word of God you are changed and made into a new person.
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, both joints and marrow, and able to judge the reflections and thoughts of the heart. And no creature is hidden in the sight of him, but all things are naked and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom we must give our account[a].
The scanner was arc shaped which is a play on words. The ark is where the presence of God resided for the people of Israel. This has changed because of what Jesus accomplished (See the book of Hebrews):
The Ark of the Covenant, a symbol of God’s presence with the Israelites in the Old Testament, contrasts with the New Covenant in the New Testament, which emphasizes God’s presence within believers’ hearts and a relationship based on grace and faith through Jesus Christ. The Ark represented a physical container of God’s law, while the New Covenant writes God’s law on believers’ hearts. The New Covenant is not tied to a physical object but to a spiritual reality of a renewed relationship with God.
