Freedom Dream (Part 3)

There I was trudging along through the darkness in the dream with a host of other people. I was in the same position as other human beings; being driven, not knowing the way out or whether there was a way out. Then into the darkness came a choice to receive the gift that the hands offered me. The hands of my Heavenly Father reached down to me. In reality this is what has happened through his Son, Jesus and He makes a way of escape evident for me. This choice is not just for me but for all of us.

In the previous post I refer to the line in the Luke passage about recovery of sight which isn’t in the Old Testament version of the same passage found in Isaiah. Yet it is in Psalm 146:7,8

The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.

For me in the dream there was a point of realisation that something amazing had happened. I had my eyes opened to see that there was a way out. The glass window-door was the place where this took place. There was a very real feeling of freedom at this point. There is a relationship with having my eyes opened and the man going through the door. Freedom comes when we have our eyes opened to the truth. The truth about Jesus!

‘”to open the blind eyes,
to bring the prisoner out from the dungeon,
those who sit in darkness from the house of imprisonment.'”

Isaiah 42:7

Before seeing the man go through the window-door there is another element to the dream. That element was where I see someone that I know who needed help and needed guidance along the way as she was blind. More on that in the next part.

When this amazing thing happened to me, where I received a gift I wanted to share that gift with someone else. I don’t think I need to unpack that. Suffice to say gifts are best shared!

Jesus came to set us free and that freedom as already discussed includes forgiveness. The Apostle Paul had a commissioning from Jesus when he had his Damascus road experience. This is a part of it relayed here which conveys more of the truth of why Jesus came in Jesus’ words to Paul:

‘”…to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and share among those who are sanctified by faith in me”‘

As I have reflected on this part of the dream I have been made aware through what I saw that I am called as a disciple of Jesus to follow in his footsteps and show the way.

Ultimately the Lord is into making us whole. Russ Parker in his book Healing Dreams, their power and purpose in your spiritual life says dreams enable us to know ourselves more fully. They are something we’ve written and they don’t disguise but uncover something about us.

In the next part I unpack the part about Rosemary. Remembering the above paragraph helps me to see that she is a broken part of me that needs help to see, or to be made whole – reintegrated.

Each of us can learn from our dreams.
