A lovely mild evening out there this evening with blue sky and light cloud noticeable even after sunset. I only had the energy to go out the back door with my bat detector. As soon as I stepped out I turned it on and picked up the fine ticking of a pipistrelle low towards the east. It suddenly got louder and I saw it and heard it passing right in front of me about 3 or 4 feet away heading off towards the last remaining glow of sun! Wonderful!
