The other day whilst listening to Naked Bible Podcast I was introduced to a book, followed by a website. This blog is about that below.
The book subject is about something that has perturbed me academically. It is about whether Christians should follow the law. It is written by a Messianic Jew – that is a Jew who has had a life changing experience with Jesus and now follows him as his Messiah. The title of the book is Reading Moses, Seeing Jesus: How the Torah Fulfills Its Goal in Yeshua by Seth D Postell, Eitan Bar and Erez Soref. I am slowly reading through the book as I have a number of books on the go at the moment. The podcast gave an overview to the book which made me think I need to get this book – it was on offer so I did!
The men who wrote this book are part of an initiative which is called One For Israel. I looked them up and found a very balanced group who are reaching out to people in Israel of all faiths and none and introducing them to the Messiah. I have found this very exciting!
Previously I have watched YouTube videos about how Jews have met their Messiah. These videos are not too long around 10 minutes. Each person tells their story and I find it incredibly moving and inspiring. I love to hear how Jesus has changed people’s lives. The fact that they are Jews who have met Jesus and been impacted by him somehow affects me even more. When I went to the website One For Israel I discovered that these videos are produced by this initiative.
Currently the situation at the moment in Israel is very troubled yet within the country this movement is touching the lives of people with the Good News of the Messiah and lives are being changed. The lives that are being changed are not just the lives of Jews whether Orthodox or not so Orthodox, but also Moslems, Arabs, those who have been Christian in name and secular Israelis. One of the stories I would like to highlight here is the story of Suzie. I will let her speak for herself.
On the page that this video is found on you will see other people. You might like to listen to their stories too. There are articles to read and plenty of other things to look at on the website. The world is going through much pain at the moment and many are looking for hope. There is something compelling about their stories and the work of One For Israel which makes me think of the book of Acts in the Bible – it is like an extension of that book.
